Senior Finance Manager


We are currently seeking a Senior Finance Manager to develop and expand our Global Finance Team. The position incorporates a wide array of tasks, including overall coordination of the global organisational budget, management of the Finance Team, strategic advice to Senior Management and supporting the Project Development Team. The successful applicant will have several years’ experience at a management level and will be looking to help grow and support an international organisation. The position is based in Berlin.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall organisational finances and budgeting: oversight of how the organisation is performing in total - across all projects and offices, including financial projections and forecasts for the organisation
  • o Preparation and analysis of financial reports and projections for management

    o Advise and assist management in the financial aspects of overall strategic direction • Management of the finance & accounting functions

    o Timely preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flow projectionso Ensure timely production of statutory and internal financial reportso Proposals/fundraising: reviewing proposals budgets and developing budget templates. o Oversight of financial ledgers and accounting processeso Review and analysis of monthly consolidated P&L and balance sheeto Financial modelling and analysis

  • Leading the Global Finance Team, working with the team to prioritise tasks, setting deadlines and clearly delegating relevant tasks; responsible for the professional development of the individual team members
  • o Mentor, manage and support Finance Team staffo Policies and procedures: review and development of policies and procedures related to the

    work of the Global Finance team• Supervision of financial aspects of the overseas offices in USA, Togo and Australia, including developing

    procedures and financial systems between officeso Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained o Oversight of the Annual Tax Returns of all the associated companies

  • Provide information and advice on:o Tax issues in Germany and internationally
    • Ensure the organisation is fully compliant with fiscal and legal requirements in collaboration with HR
    • Oversee Payroll process from finance management perspective
  • o Human Resources: supporting HR with resource planning

    Your Profile

    You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

    • A graduate degree in business, finance or related discipline or equivalent vocational training
    • At least seven years' experience in finance management with international organisations or in the

      non-profit sector

    • Very good knowledge of tax regulations in Germany, experience with international tax matters is a


    • Understanding of complex financial issues, experience with developing organisational budgets,

      making projections and proven ability to advise senior staff on strategic direction and financial


    • In-depth understanding of project controlling and allocation of resources. Experience with various

      funders and broad knowledge of their requirements is an advantage

    • Experience and excellent skills in using financial databases and other office relevant software.
    • Previous team management and line management experience
    • Fluency in German (written and spoken) and excellent English writing and verbal skills are a

      requirement; basic French skills are welcome, but not required, other language skills are an asset

    • Proven capacity to work independently and under pressure
    • Very accurate, structured and reliable
    • Ability to be highly organized, detail-oriented and to multitask
    • A well developed sense for team work and ability to interact with a diverse array of people
